Welcome To Alzheimer Solutions Website
I became interested in Alzheimer's disease in 1990, when my father was diagnosed with the disease. He had been losing weight since 1988. Looking back, the early weight loss was the first sign of Alzheimer's disease.
When Dad was diagnosed with the disease, I began spending hours in medical libraries. I hoped, through library research, to find a "cure" for Dad.
The magic "cure" never came. Dad died of Alzheimer's a few days before Christmas,on December 18, 1993. Christmas, once a joyous holiday for me,is now always a bit sad.
Dad's death inspired me to return to graduate school. I earned a master's level Certificate in Gerontology. I earned a certification in laboratory Biotechnology. In 1999, I founded Alzheimer Solutions,a small private company, devoted to alzheimer research and caregiver education.
At my Alzheimer Solutions laboratory, I am searching for compounds that will benefit alzheimer patients.
I am also trying to help caregivers. They need to know where to find helpful resources. The Memory Clinic and Adult Day Care sections on this web site will help caregivers find needed help and resources. More resource listings are planned.
Sincerely,
Jim Knittweis
